Hello,

I'm Fortune Ossai

I am on the wild ride of growing a self-funded small business that focussed on helping businesses and entrepreneurs in explaining their products and services through explainer videos and creating a unique business website. I'm consumed by the desire to solve every problem, using a lot of creative brain power and trying to simplify everything that's complex. I'm always learning - whether it's how to lead, grow and encourage a team; cultivating a strategic partnership from the ground up or figuring out how the heck the industrial internet of things works .

I mess up sometimes. I try to admit my mistakes quickly and I hope to benefit others and add value to their lives

AN ENTREPRENEUR WITH A BIG DREAM

You’re an entrepreneur with big dreams and goals. You work long hours and most weekends but despite all the effort and hustle, you’re struggling to hit 4 figures let alone 5 figures in income.

The way you see it, you’re doing everything right. You’re a consistent blogger, you network, you’ve read heaps of business and marketing books and taken online classes.
So what’s up? Why isn’t your inbox overflowing with enquiries from people eager to work with you?
Here are 5  ways you may be subconsciously sabotaging your online success:

1. Your email signature is not quite right

You use an email signature because you want to look professional and trustworthy. But you’ve forgotten to include your contact information. In fact, not only have you neglected to include contact details, your email signature consists of only your name and logo. No website link. No link to your latest blog post and no link to your social media accounts.

Make sure your email signature includes the following:
Your first and last name
Your company name and website URL
Your company logo
Your contact details
Links to your social media accounts
Link to your latest blog post

2. You neglect to include share buttons

As someone who has to regularly curate content for my clients, I find nothing more irritating than coming to the end of a great post and not finding share buttons. I know I’m not alone on this.

Here’s the thing, chances are you’ve slaved over your blog posts to make sure your ideal audience will find your content original, educational and useful. So why not make it easy for readers to spread the love? Including social share buttons increases the likelihood of getting fresh eyeballs on your content.

Here’s what you can do:
Include social media share buttons in your posts
Try out Social Warfare or SumoMe if you’re on WordPress.

“Content is king, but marketing is queen, and runs the household.”

3. You don’t use images

Text is only one part of a great blog. Just like an enticing headline is vital to a blog post’s success, so are images. Every post should include a featured image. This image is the one that will appear at the top of the post and on social media when it gets shared.

Use an easy-to-use tool like Canva (there is a free version) to create eye-catching images.

Here’s what you can do:
Include at least one image in every blog post
Include your post’s headline in the image

4. You’re hiding in the crowd

Successful people don’t blend in with the crowd. They stand out. If you’re staying small and safe by offering up more of the same (content, products, features) then you’re not going to rise above your competitors. To stand out, dare to be different.

Doug Pick’s, founder and president of Hearos Earplugs, formula for success is to see where the masses are headed and go the other way. He asked himself: “If the trend is to go downstream, what if I go upstream?”

This of course, demands real effort and vision on your part. It means considering all possibilities and looking for gaps in the market.

Here’s what you can do:
Refuse to blend in.
Be authentic.
Share your own perspective.
Adopt a contrarian mindset.

“As an actor, I think sort of relish the chance to take a leap and sort of put yourself out there…you just have to be willing to embarrass yourself, because otherwise you are not going to really reveal anything that you have. So I think it’s exciting.” – Daniel Radcliffe

5. You’re not building a community

The surest way to build trust and likeability online is to develop an online community. You should be doing this on social media. Focus on growing those channels where your target audience hangs out. For example if your ideal client is mostly on Facebook and Twitter then make sure you are active in both.

Building an online community will do two things for your brand: Help nurture relationships with your audience and differentiate you from your competitors. Invest a minimum of thirty minutes a day to create and share content that will delight your audience and spark discussion.

Here’s what you can do:
Be consistent with your posts.
Respond to messages and comments.
Follow back and engage.

Take a closer look at your email, blog and social media and see where you can implement these points to improve your chances of success.

Which one of these tips are you going to focus more on today? Leave your thoughts below!

Benefits of Social Media for Business

There was a time when social media was considered by some as a passing fad. Something that “the kids” were using that businesses could never really benefit from. Over time, the skeptics were proved wrong. There are over 3 billion internet users—and over 2 billion of them have active social media accounts. Popular social platforms have become marketing giants, offering businesses valuable data about their customers and a (mostly) free way to reach them. The jury has spoken: social media for business is no longer optional.
If you’re wondering how social media can benefit your business, look no further. We’ve outlined key points below.
Bonus: Get the step-by-step social media strategy guide with pro tips on how to grow your social media presence with Fortune Inspires.

1. Gain valuable customer insights

Social media generates a huge amount of data about your customers in real time. Every day there are over 500 million Tweets, 4.5 billion Likes on Facebook, and 95 million photos and videos uploaded to Instagram. Behind these staggering numbers is a wealth of information about your customers—who they are, what they like, and how they feel about your brand.
Through daily active engagement and social listening, you can gather relevant customer data and use that information to make smarter business decisions. With Fortune Insights, for example, you can gather information across all your social networks in real time—allowing you to gauge customer sentiment, find the conversations happening around your brand, and run real-time reports.

2. Increase brand awareness and loyalty

When you have a presence on social media, you make it easier for your customers to find and connect with you. And by connecting with your customers on social, you’re more likely to increase customer retention and brand loyalty. A study by The Social Habit shows that 53 percent of Americans who follow brands on social are more loyal to those brands.

3. Run targeted ads with real-time results

Social ads are an inexpensive way to promote your business and distribute content. They also offer powerful targeting options so that you can reach the right audience. For example, if you run an ad campaign on LinkedIn, you can segment by things like location, company, job title, gender, and age—the list goes on. If you’re running a Facebook ad, you can target based on location, demographics, interests, behaviors, and connections. You can track and measure the performance of your social ads in real time.

4. Generate higher converting leads

Social media increases sales and customer retention through regular interaction and timely customer service. In the 2015 Sales Best Practices Study from research institute MHI Global, world-class companies rated social media as the most effective way to identify key decision makers and new business opportunities. In the State of Social Selling in 2015, nearly 75 percent of companies that engaged in selling on social media reported an increase in sales in 12 months.

5. Provide rich customer experiences

Even if you aren’t on social media, most of your customers expect you to be. Over 67 percent of consumers now go to social media for customer service. They expect fast response times and 24/7 support—and companies that deliver win out. A study by Aberdeen Group shows that companies engaging in social customer service see much bigger annual financial gains (7.5 percent YOY growth) vs. those without (2.9 percent).

6. Increase website traffic and search ranking

One of the biggest benefits of social media for business is using it to increase your website traffic. Not only does social media help you direct people to your website, but the more social media shares you receive, the higher your search ranking will be. For example, if every person who follows Hootsuite on Twitter Retweets this post, it’s more likely to rank higher in Google’s search engine results page for variations of “social media for business.”

7. Find out what your competitors are doing

With social media monitoring you can gain key information about your competitors. This kind of intel will allow you to make strategic business decisions to stay ahead of them. For example, you can create search streams in Hootsuite to monitor industry keywords and mentions of your competitors’ names and products. Based on your search results, you can improve your business to offer product enhancements, service, or content that they may be missing.
8. Share content faster and easier
In the past, marketers faced the challenge of ensuring their content reached customers in the shortest possible time. With the help of social media, specifically when it comes to sharing content about your business or for content curation, all you need to do is share it on your brand’s social network accounts.

9. Geotarget content

Geo-targeting is an effective way to send your message out to a specific audience based on their location. Social networks like Facebook and Twitter have tools that allow you to communicate the right kind of content to your audience.

10. Build relationships

Social media isn’t about blasting your company’s sales pitch on social, it’s a two-way channel where you have the opportunity to enrich relationships with your customers. For example, social media allows tourism brands to create dialogue with travellers, therefore creating relationships with customers before, during, and after they have booked a trip with the company. This kind of social media dialogue between brands and customers is something traditional advertising cannot achieve.
Get started on social to grow your business
Social media has a treasure trove of benefits to help you grow your business. By using it to learn more about your customers, engage with your audience, and extend your brand reach, you’ll be converted before you know it.

Don't Quit Yet It's Not Over

Life is full of struggle. We’re destined to face pain and have everything blow up in our face. This very idea only became known to me eight weeks ago. I can’t believe I actually thought that some people never experience any major issues in their life.

We all suffer from sickness, heartbreak, death, failure and disappointment. What I’ve learned is that those who succeed accept this fact and make a decision to push through it. When things go wrong, they commit to having faith when there is no reason to do so.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had some pretty big stuff ups. I continue to have the same and I’ve thought about quitting so many times. That was until I realized how I got where I am today. The only reason I’m still here, and breathing, is because I decided not to quit.

Quitting is the most painful form of suffering. Most of all, quitting on yourself is something you will never forgive yourself for. I know life is hard, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find an empowering way to break through all of the struggles.
Here is why I don’t want you to quit on yourself:

1. Life is not a race

We quit on ourselves because we feel like life is a race against time. We feel like we have to achieve so much by a certain age or we’re a failure. Don’t quit because of someone else’s time frame. Life is short in one sense of the word and very long when you live in the present moment.

I’ve wanted to quit on myself many times. From a failed accounting career, to failed businesses, to many failed romantic relationships. Life is tough and we are guaranteed to be in constant pain.

“The way you win the race is to accept that pain is guaranteed”

Know that with every failure that comes your way, there’s a whole bunch of other people around you going through something similar. You may not know of all the pain happening around you, but it’s everywhere. Don’t quit on yourself because you didn’t reach your goal or get what you want.

Get back up again and keep trying with the newfound perspective from your past failures.

2. You’re over thinking everything

Quitting on yourself happens because you are over thinking everything that has transpired. If you give your brain enough time, it will find 101 reasons why you should quit. Quitting is your brain’s default response. It’s easier to quit on yourself than to keep going.

Everyone reading this post knows that success comes from struggle and hard work; not from taking the easy path. Stop your brain from going into meltdown and try these few suggestions:

– Every time you want to quit, repeat a metaphor that interrupts your brains pattern. Mine is, “You dodged a bullet Tim.”

– Go for a walk and listen to a story of struggle on your phone

– Get social and spend time with people you don’t know

These suggestions will help you to take your mind of quitting. The longer you try and solve a problem through thinking, the more likely you are to quit. Try taking breaks and blocking out times where you can think about a problem.

Sometimes there is no answer to a problem you are trying to solve other than trying something new. Don’t become obsessed with always trying to get a rock solid answer for every situation. We spend so much time in our heads and our constant negative thoughts form the foundation of our desire to quit on ourselves.

3. You’re so close

I’ve lost count us to how many times I’ve come so close to winning at life and then quit right at the last moment. Believe in yourself and know that every setback happens for a reason. We don’t always know why an event or situation has occurred, but we have to keep going.

“Success is always close by, but we have to earn it”

Nothing comes easily and it’s the struggle that gives us the right to succeed. I’m horrible when it comes to patience, although I’m getting better. I’m obsessed with having the answer right now and that’s why I forget how close I am to success.

Cowards quit right before they achieve greatness because they believe they deserve something when they haven’t learnt it.

4. The problem with quitting

Quitting almost always leaves you with regret about what might have happened. I find that when you see something through all the way to the end, you get the opportunity to know that there is nothing more you could have done.

If you let your regrets stack up over time, you will find that you start to feel very unfulfilled. There’s no better feeling than persisting, even when it seems like there is no reason to do so. Get comfortable we never giving up. Force yourself to pursue success in life at all costs.

5. There’s always another opportunity

I’ve wanted to quit on myself recently because I thought that I had found what I was looking for, and that because I couldn’t have it, I would have to settle for second best and the unhappiness that comes with it. After careful thought and coaching from my mentors, I reminded myself that there is always another opportunity.

What causes us to quit is the limiting belief that opportunities for success and fulfillment are not never-ending. They are. When one door closes, another door opens. What I’ve found difficult is that you never know when the next door is going to open again.

This is both annoying and awesome at the same time. When you don’t know when the next door is going to open you have to adopt the mindset of always being grateful and keeping an open mind. It adds a sense of uncertainty to our life that keeps things interesting.

6. Would your life be better if you quit?

Ask yourself this question. 99% of the time your life will never be better if you quit. Your life will be better if you keep going and push through the struggle, and pain that goes hand in hand with determination.

The feeling you get from not quitting on yourself and achieving the pinnacle of success will give you the energy to do even more incredible challenges in your life. Success breeds success.

7. The end result is worth the pain

If what you are trying to achieve in life is not worth the pain, then it’s a lousy goal in the first place. Aim for targets that make the pain worth it and light you up at the thought of winning. You’ll only quit on yourself if you go after goals you don’t really want deep down.

Don’t Give Up On Her

Don’t give up on the girl with the heart that won’t stop giving.

Don’t give up on the girl who’d move mountains to see your smile.

Don’t give up on the girl who’d walk through hell for you, because that kind of girl only comes around once in a lifetime.

The girl who would never give up on you is the one who will love you at your best and at your worst.

She’s the one you may not feel deserving of but trust me, she’s chosen to be with you for a reason.

The girl who would never give up on you is a fighter.

She isn’t scared off by your darkness and she doesn’t jump ship when things get rough.

She’ll hold your hand when you’re falling apart.

She’ll help you up when you can’t stand on your own.

The girl who would never give up on you is realistic.

She didn’t choose you because she’s a hopeless romantic with her head in the clouds.

She chose you because she saw something in you – a spark of potential, just waiting to be lit. She chose you because she believes in you. Because she knows that you can accomplish things others wouldn’t even dare to dream of. And she remembers this when you have forgotten it.

Don’t give up on the girl who would never give up on you, because if you do, you’re letting go of a fighter.

She’s not always easy to be with. She has high standards, both for herself and others.

She pushes herself to be a better friend, a better person and a better partner to you, every single day.

So do her a favor – push back. Don’t shy away from the immensity of her passion. Choose to fight for her, the way that she will always fight for you. For better or for worse. Come hell or high water.

Don’t give up on the girl who would never give up on you because that girl is going to be the absolute love of your life, if you let her be. If you finally realize that you deserve the kind of love she’s trying to give you, and that she deserves to receive it right back. If you finally decide to stop pushing her away and choose to finally let her in instead.

Because the girl who would never give up on you knows that she deserves someone who would never give up on her either.

And if you aren’t willing to fight for her, she’ll find someone else who will.

Be The One Who Stays

Be the one who stays. The one who doesn’t feel the need to lie. To roll the dice. To play the game. Be the kind of person that means what they say. Be the kind of person who doesn’t go.

Be the one who decides to fight.

Who decides to fight through the hurt.

Who decides to plant your feet firmly on the ground, and chooses to not get knocked down.

Who chooses to jump over the obstacles, and to climb through all the challenges. No matter how high they may become.

Be the kind of person who fights for what’s right in the world. Who throws your fists in the air and believes in a better life. Be the one who doesn’t give up when things go wrong. Who doesn’t break the hearts of people just for fun. Be the one who tries to always do the right thing. And be the one to own up to your mistakes.

Be the one who doesn’t turn away. Who doesn’t leave when things get rocky. Who fights for the people you love. Be the one who chooses love over hate. Who doesn’t take love for granted. Who isn’t so afraid of loving someone.
Be the kind of person who doesn’t run from good things.

Be the kind of person that recognizes love when it comes your way. Who chooses not to run the other direction in fear of getting run over. Be the one to greet love in a warm hug and be the kind of person to never take advantage of it.

Be the one who kisses other lips with kindness. Who speaks with honesty and sees with bright eyes. Be the one who doesn’t question the power of love. Who doesn’t ever question the power of hearts.

Be the kind of person who has a gentle soul. Who makes time for your family and your friends. Who doesn’t ignore the important people in your life. Who greets the ones you love with softened eyes and an open heart. Be the one who doesn’t react coldly. Who never spits venom on the people who cradle your heart. Be the kind of person who never wrongs the people who lift you up.
Be the one who doesn’t shut out good. Who shows up for the people that trust you. Be the kind of person who doesn’t disappoint her or him or them. Be the one to follow through.

Be the kind of person who never leaves the ones who hold your heart. Be the one to stay. No matter how rough the current flows. No matter how high the mountain top can grow. Be the one to stay. The one to not run from love. Be the one to never turn away.

Be the kind of person who knows that love only comes around once in a while. Be the kind of person who knows that you would have to be a fool to run from love. Don’t be a fool.

Unemployment in Nigeria and the way forward

Two sets of people exist in life:

  1. Masters
  2. Servants.
The best you can ever be working for someone else is a glorified servant. As hard as this may seem, this is the truth,if you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.
Every year about 200,000 students graduates from the university and 90 percent of them jumps into labour market the aim of getting a job, less than 25 percent of them will get jobs. That is about 50,000 will have jobs, 15 percent of them will earn between 15,000 Naira to 30,000 Naira monthly.

In fact, reliable statistics have it that we have more than 40 million unemployed people in the country today. It is a pathetic situation.

Marriage at First Sight by Pst. Emma Amah

Speaker: Pst Emma. Amah (Love Base Assembly)
Date: 19 Jan. 2017
Its a great privilege to me to discuss this vital topic, great kudos to Fortune inspires.
I have to commend the previous speakers and those who made their contributions, so many people think that marriage at first sight is not achievable that is not correct "marriage at first sight is real". So many people have visions for so many things pertaining to life but have no vision for marriage, vision is a mental picture of your preferred future.
Ones you have designed the kind of life partner you desire or want, you will also be able to identify such immediate the partners comes.
